Hussein Madi

Hussein Madi, born in 1938 in Chebaa, Lebanon, was influenced & exposed to art through the Larousse French dictionary. Despite parental objections, he pursued art education at ALBA and supported himself with illustration work. His studies in Rome and Beirut sharpened his skills, leading to prestigious awards and exhibitions.

Madi’s art is deeply rooted in nature and a meticulous understanding of living forms, reflected in his abstract yet structured compositions. His artworks often feature repetitive shapes and lines, exploring color interactions and spatial relationships. His metal sculptures translate his designs into three-dimensional forms, reminiscent of origami and influenced by artists like Picasso and Matisse.

Lived and worked in Hamra, Beirut until he passed away in 2024
